
Fowlerville Farms Family Restaurant, Blast from the Past!
Nickerson Farms was a roadside restaurant franchise from the mid-1960s to the early 1980s, founded by I. J. Nickerson after he left the Stuckey's chain. The company operated gas stations and restaurants, primarily along Interstate highways in the Midwest, with as many as sixty locations at its peak. A signature feature was a beehive inside the restaurant, where customers could watch honey being made.
Founder: Founded by Ivan James "I. J." Nickerson, a former Stuckey's franchisee.
Concept: Combined a full-service restaurant, gas station, and gift shop.
Peak operations: At its peak, there were around sixty locations, mainly in the Midwest.
Unique feature: A large beehive was built into the restaurant, allowing customers to see honey being made. Honey collected from these hives was a popular product.
Gasoline: The majority of locations sold Skelly gasoline and other petroleum products.
